Although the Theatre Catalog and Motion Picture Almanacs had switched to calling it the Skyline Drive-In by 1952, its newspaper ads kept the Cruise In name going until 1970.

The Skyview Cruise-In was built in 1948, according to the caption of its picture in the Arcadia Publishing Company book “Lancaster,” by Connie L. Rutter, Sondra Brockway Gartner.

If you’re a drive-in theater purist (like me) who prefers using drive-in speakers than radio, the popular Skyview Cruise-In (cool name) in Lancaster is the place for you! The management and owners dedicate themselves by continuously maintaining their speakers which fill the lot. Great, crisp sound.
Interesting that none of Lancaster’s current or recent theaters – the one in River Valley mall, the Lancaster cinemas on Sheridan Drive, or the old Plaza Drive in, are mentioned here…someone should put pages in for them…
