The former large Embassy Cinema was demolished and in its place arose the 6-screen Embassy centre.
The lower floors are used for restaurants and shopping, the basement for bingo and the cinemas with a total seating capacity for 900 occupy the top floors.
Sadly this rather bland building, probably the most ugly in the heritage city, inevitably caused the demise of the other older cinemas - the Capitol (City Lights Cinema remains in part of the building), Savoy, Coliseum, and Imperial cinemas.

I visited the Embassy during the CTA visit to Malta in May 2012. The auditoriums are very comfortable and the staff very welcoming (they made a friend of mine a cup of coffee in their staff room when the dispenser didn’t work properly!).
