Originally used by Kinekor films in South Africa to release USA and UK independent films. Later renamed the Kine Continental and during the latter part of the 1970’s was used to show foreign and art house films.
It was located opposite the Johannesburg Sun office building in the city centre and was situated below street level. It had a spiral staircase down into the cinema from the box office at street level. The Kine Continental closed in 1980.
