The original Alaska was a 250 seat theatre operated by People’s Amusement Company.
Looking at that photo from the Boxoffice Archive, I doubt very much that the building faced with gray tiles in Silicon Sam’s comment of 03-01-2010 is what survives of the Alaska. The archived article’s photo shows a three-story building, and there is evidence that there was an old painted sign on the building to left of gray-tiled building. I think any real traces of the Alaska are gone.

This little building has survived for a hundred years. It should have a plaque.
I was just going for the decoration on the column, but this is likely the exact spot of the theater, to the right of the restaurant then.

Compare the detail on the column in the Google Street View with the 1910 photo in the first post. Pretty Cool…. Either original or made to look like the original.
STREET VIEW
The building is located between the Collins Building and The Smith Tower. I believe the original building still exists but nothing that resembles a theater remains.
