Operating since at least 1941, when it is listed with 800 seats, the Mayfair Theatre was part of the Franklin & Herschorn circuit by 1950 and into the early-1960’s. It was closed around 1973/1974.

Next door to the Mayfair was the Dundas Theatre. I used to go there when I was a kid for weekend matinees. I remember that it had wooden floors.

According to Mike Rivest’s site, the Mayfair was last owned by Famous Players, which closed it sometime around 1970.
