Cine Balmes

Located just to the north-west of Barcelona’s city centre. The Cine Balmes opened on 25th December 1953 with Gregory Peck in "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" and Margaret Lockwood in "Highly Dangerous". The seating capacity at opening was for 740.

From 1972 until the end of 1981 it was operated by the Balana group. It was re-modeled in October 1987 and had a slightly reduced seating capacity of 692, being operated from 1988 by the Cinesa group.

The Cine Balmes closed in the early 2000’s and in 2008 was in use as the Metropolitan Sport Club and Spa.
