Plestex 4 Theater

This is the theater in my home town of Pleasanton. It was originally opened in 1950 as the Leon Theatre and was a single screen. Now they are up to four screens.

The original Plestex Theater that was located off Main Street is long gone.

The Leon Theatre was designed by Houston architect Ernest L. Shult. It was included on a list of his theater projects published in the 1950 edition of Theatre Catalog, with the design dated 1948.

The original single screen theatre was built by James Kenneth Smelley Senior. The balcony became theatre 2 when it was expanded to include two additional auditoriums created in adjacent retail space. The management apologizes that, because of the age of the building, the balcony theatre cannot comply with ADA standards.

The Plextex, together with the Forum 6 in Uvalde, is operated by Henson Theatres.
