The Brighton Theatre opened on November 2, 1928 with Olive Borden in “The Joy Girl”. It went into receivership and closed on April 25, 1957 with John Wayne in “The Wings of Eagles” & Willard Parker in “Naked Gun”. It was taken over as a boxing arena which folded in 1958. This was followed by use as live music performances which closed on January 5, 1960 with a concert by singer Johnny Horton. It later became a bowling alley. By July 2022 it was occupies by the South Side Innovation Center.

On 9/17/57, the Syracuse Post-Standard reported that the Brighton had been sold to the United Development Co. of Binghamton. Plans were to turn the theater into a bowling alley or skating rink.
This opened on November 2nd, 1928. The grand opening ad is in the photo section for this cinema.
he Brighton Theatre was built for $40,000 in 1928 opening on November 2, 1928 with “The Joy Girl.” It closed as a movie theater on April 25, 1957 with “Wings of Eagle” and “The Naked Gun” in receivership. It was sold to an independent who staged boxing and wrestling matches in late 1957 and into 1958. It failed commercially but found one final operator who staged live music shows. That ended on January 5, 1960 with Johnny “Battle of New Orleans” Horton graced the stage. The venue was then replaced by a bowling alley.
