The Shaukiwan Theatre was situated in the Shaukiwan district on the Hong Kong Island. According to the 1924 Hong Kong Government Administrative Report, the building of the theatre was completed in 1924, and the theatre probably opened to business in the same year. It was a small neighbourhood cinema, and showed selected English language and Chinese dialect films until the outbreak of war on 8th December 1941.

During the war years, it showed films censored by the Japanese Army. After the suspension of electricity supply on 20th August 1944, the cinema closed to business. It re-opened at an unknown date after the end of WWII, and showed first-run Cantonese films until its closure in April 1970.

A residential building was built on the site of the theatre.
