The second mini-theatre built in the area, (preceded by Mini 1 in Syracuse) The Oswego Cinema was built by Carrols Development Corporation (later called CinemaNational). It was located at the far end of the Oswego Plaza shopping center on the Eastern end of Oswego, NY.
Opened in the summer of 1970 with Disney’s “The Boatniks”, this theatre was ran 35mm film on one-hour reels with automated changeovers. In 1972, “The Godfather” sold out many showings, with a long line around the building.
The building still stands, now an appliance store.

I’m trying to figure out a July 1941 story in the Syracuse Herald Journal about a fire that wrecked the Mayfair Theater on Oswego Street. Does anyone know if there is an Oswego Street in Syracuse, or might the story be referring to a theater in the city of Oswego? Is Oswego near Syracuse? Thanks.
Oswego is +/– 30 miles north of Syracuse…. unsure offhand if there is an Oswego Street in Syracuse.
There is an Oswego Street in Syracuse, on the city’s west side.
There is an Oswego Street in Syracuse, according to Google maps. I’m going to add the Mayfair as a Syracuse theater. Thanks for the info.
