Closed on December 30, 1979 with “The Muppet Movie”.

Opened as Brownie’s Arcadia Theatre on December 7, 1922 with “Silver Wings” and was part of the fledgling Brownie Theatre Circuit which operated in Missouri, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Texas.

My aunt (great Aunt) was a Durrett (see business sign next to theater) before marriage.

Here is a photo of the Joy circa 1952. My mother said her aunt (Odie Turner) used to take her to movies there in the early 40’s when she would visit her.
