Avalon Theater...Clarksville Texas

The Avalon Theater was in downtown Clarksville on Highway 82 (Main Street). It was opened in late-1938. It was still open in 1957. It had closed by 1987. It has since been demolished and a memorial garden named Pride’s Corner is on the site of the former theatre.

There is a photo circa 1943 on this tribute site to the police officer killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on 11/22/63. You have to scroll down for a while:

The Avalon Theatre was at the southwest corner of Main Street and Locust Street, on the south side of the town square. Sadly, it has been demolished.
