The Climax Cinema was an adult cinema operating in the late-1970’s. Located in the Hockley district of the city centre. By July 1999 it had re-opened as the Gallery Lounge Cinema, showing classic and cult films. In 2002 it re-opened as as the Screen Room. It was advertised as the ‘World’s Smallest Cinema’. It played the latest 1st run films and was very popular, always filling its 22 seats. It was equipped to run 35mm film, DVD and video. The Screen Room was closed in late-December 2010.
It re-opened in 2011 as Screen 22, screening independent films. It was closed in April 2017 due to the operators' health problems, but remains open for private bookings and special events.

Looking at various pages on the internet regarding the Terrace Theatre, Tinonee, NSW it seems to be a 120 years old building, which has many antique artifacts on display. It screens old newreels and some modern movies. Several web sites mention it is closed and will re-open in January 2007. Whether this happened I am not sure. It seems to be a sort of tourist novelty for the small town it is located in and even goes by the name Terrace Cinema Museum.
On the other hand the Screen Room is a regular public cinema, screening new first run movies concurrent with the local multiplexes.
The Minimax screen at the Coolidge Corner in Boston MA USA has it beat by 4.

According to the photo I took in May 2012 the cinema appears to have been renamed Screen 22 sometime before closing. When I visited the Screen Room, soon after it had opened, I booked well in advance, bearing in mind how small it was – and, you guessed it, no one else turned up for that show! The cinema used rear projection, with the projector backing up to the white boarded window in my photo.
In April 2017 owner Amy Gathercote announced her “heart-breaking” decision to close Screen 22. She had re-opened the cinema in 2011 but broke her leg in October 2016, while indulging in another of her passions, Roller Derby. Friends and family kept the cinema going, but her period of convalescence led to some reflection, and she decided not to renew the lease. She now invites another film buff to take on the challenge!
The Cinema is still in operation, albeit for private bookings only. In December 2017, Nottingham Post reported “Once the "world’s smallest cinema”, Nottingham’s Screen 22 has been turned into the home of a ticketing software company (Savoy Systems) – but will still be available for private bookings."
Nottingham’s smallest cinema reopened on Saturday, August 6 2022 after being given a new lease of life as Mammoth, a Climate Change Cinema. As far as I can gather, it will be used for specific events.
