A closer address is 12120 US-190, Opelousas, LA.

By 1994, the drive-in was demolished. The property remained undeveloped for some time. However, by 2004 the property was developed and today Lucky’s Casino is present with no trace of the drive-in remaining.

The Yam closed permanently on Fe. 9, 1982 with “Sizzling Seniors"and "Fight Rider.”

I have uploaded a photo of a page from the Opelousas Daily World from August 31, 1950 in which an ad for the Yam and other operating theatres in Opelousas at that time appear.

Shortly after the opening the competitor Midway Drive-In opened. Eventually the owner of the Yam bought the Midway and closed it in 1957.

Apparently, the Yam was a segregated theatre from comments I’ve read elsewhere.

May have still been operating in 1981, an aerial photo from that year appears to show it still intact.

This opened on August 25th, 1950. I uploaded the grand opening ad as well as an USGS aerial in the photo section.
