The Alpine Theatre opened around 1938 and operated until the 1950’s. It was then renamed Elk Theatre and is a small single screen theatre that shows movies on the weekend.

Looks like it closed in 2007, but the website is still up.
I would really hate to see inside that theatre.One of the Worst I have seen.
Except for that Theatre somewhere that looked like an Auto parts place.

I think it’s kind of cool. Definitely a “must-see” stop on my upcoming “wild weekend in WV”. (When my wife goes to Spain on business. Does anyone party like me?)
I see from their Facebook page that they just installed a digital projector.
Here is the current web site for the Elk Theatre. In the late 1930s and intot he 1950s this house was being operated as the Alpine Theatre. I haven’t been able to discover if it was originally built for the Alpine circuit or was one of the many older, small town theaters taken over by them.
