Steve1 — I worked at the Tower Theatre from 1969 through 1971 or 72 (13 – 16 years old). My dad was the assistant manager for a good part of my childhood. His name was Keith Beckett. He was a big guy with a quick smile. Thank you for sharing your memories of something so precious to me. I miss this theatre and still dream of it often.

I was stationed at Sheppard AFB in 71 and if I’m not mistaken this is the theater that the bus from the base would stop right in front of and drop Airman off for town. I use to go to this Theater every week. There use to be this tiny little shop to the right of the theater that some very attractive blond use to run that shot automatic BB guns at targets. While you were waiting for the show to start the music played over the speakers was on a loop. The one song they played over and over again was “Tie a Yellow Ribbon around the Old Oak Tree” by Tony Orlando and Dawn. I listened to that so much that I still can’t get it out of my head. Anyways loved that theater, it got me off the base without getting me in any trouble.. Remember it fondly.. Oh greatest popcorn ever.

In 1950 I would take a Bus to the Tower Movie Theatre Saturdays. Mother would give me 25 cents. The Bus cost 5 cents each way. The price of the Movie was 10 cents and I would get a candy bar with the other 5 cents. I was 12 years old.
