stand alone ticket booth closed. Tickets only at concessions or vending machines near elevator.
Uploaded new photos of the theatre after the renovations a few years ago and a couple of old shots with the old Regal seats in the photos section. Theatre is still open and showing Openheimer in 70MM DTS
The venue has made the latest Regal closure list; no firm closing date is associated with that.

Please update, theatre opened October 22, 2004. Grand opening ad in photos Total seats 1190, theatre was installed recliner seats several years ago.
I’ve been to other 4DX screens — never watched a full movie, just checked them out. Like DBox, they aren’t for me, distract me from the movie.
has anyone been to the recently opened ‘4DX screen’ – sounds too gimmicky to me, but as I understand it, the audio is still standard 7.1 and not immersive: Atmos, DTS-X, or Auro ~ right?
Is 70mm being installed into aud #14 for “h8tful 8”?
that will be interesting how this affect’s DC Film Fest in April – all movies will have to be DCP and not 35mm

Great Downtown Location
Aha. Another comment of mine is missing from this theater!!! My friend used to work not far from here and one of the movies I remember seeing here was “Little Miss Sunshine” back in ‘06. The movie was thoroughly enjoyable to the eclectic crowd. What I also remember was a fierce argument that went out between this single (white) woman who was trying to politely tell another patron (African American) male to be quiet and not talk on the phone as the movie began. The man became belligerent and the racial epithets started …mind your own business. The woman hastily retreated and got a Manager involved, who basically did nothing.
In ‘07 I recall seeing a movie here, title I forgot now, but I’m sure I blogged about it here, and there were many Secret Service agents here milling about. As to whom they were watching over I never found out..I’m guessing it may have been one of the Bush kids as I’m sure the parents would rather watch a movie in their own auditorium at the WH.
There isn’t much to recommend this place given the above memories and experiences. The technical upgrades sound nice but this is a Regal, afterall. I’d rather go to a suburban venue then venture out here unless a movie I want to see is exclusively here.
Screen 8 (another one of the largest auditoriums/screens) got the digital conversion (‘Unstoppable’ is currently playing) – unfortunately the framing is off, it’s as if the projector wasn’t pulled all the way back, the 2.35 image was framed by black borders all around. Screen 8 also features a great soundsystem, The Ed Norton ‘Hulk’ was downright amazing and assaultive, tight bass and clean clear sound. ‘Unstoppable’ soundmix was equally as impressive! Management stated that screen #2 is also digital projection and that all the DP screens feature 7.1 sound.
Screen 10 – one of the complex’s three largest screens is now a 3D Sony LCoS projector/digital system – ‘Saw 3D’ look and sounded great!
saw ‘Step Up 3D’ on screen 12 – and the 7.1 soundmix was A-mazing!! much better than the mix for ‘Toy Story 3’ – both the 3D and the sound really made the film a visual and aural treat.
and yes, according to Dolby’s website and a call down to the theatre, both auditoriums 12 and 14 have been upgraded to 7.1
which one is auditorium #2 – I’m drawing a blank? I keep on waiting til the really large screens the ones behind the front concession stand get the digital conversion, since digital projection is key/ideal for the largest screens.
wonder if any of the two 3D screesn will be upgraded to 7.1 sound for the ‘Toy Story 3’ engagement??
Auditorium #2 now has a Sony 4K.
Theatre 12 got a Sony 4K 3D projector/unit.
I just noted this when I saw ‘My Bloody Valentine 3D’ yesterday, but the ceiling lights in their sole DLP auditorium never go fully out, they remain on (faint, but still there – they also create a glare on the glasses themselves). To say the least they are very distracting when an essentially dark film (and in 3D) can, and should be the only visual source. I kind of subtly complained and asked if the lights could be manually turned all the way off, the answer was no. I shot a complaint to corporate over this, since I wasn’t too pleased with how management handled the situation.

That is good news. It seems they are expanding their digital conversion to other area Regals as well, albeit ONE auditorium per plex. And its also equally good news that they installed it in an auditorium that isn’t the smallest in the plex.
finally a REAL-D 3D DLP system is up! and it’s on a rather large screen not like what Regal did over at their Rockville multiplex. ‘Nightmare Before Christmas 3D’ looked and sounded fantastic – the best version of the film I’ve seen – trouncing the 3D engagement over at Tyson’s Corner.
