I managed this theatre in the mid 1980s and then later in the mid 1990s. The casino did this theatre in when all surface parking was bought by the casino or metered to death by the city. It was a beautiful single screen theatre with a huge curved screen. It was the first theatre in Windsor to install Dolby Stereo. In early 2000 the hotel complex the theatre was in closed and was bought by the city of Windsor. Then the whole thing burned down in a suspicious but spectacular fire just one day before demolision was to have started.
Yes this was a cool theatre.I saw Jaws and The sting at this theatre.I also loved the Vanity theatre the Centre and the Palace.Anyone know the history of these other Windsor theatres?
I was told this theater was 70mm capable,i would love to find out what films played in 70mm if any.I will never forget coming out of Jaws and seeing seagulls everywhere on the Detroit river as the theater itself was right on the shore line facing Detroit.
Although the projectors were capable of playing 70mm film, the theatre did not have the necessary magnetic sound system to make this possible so no 70mm films were ever played. I would have liked to have posted a picture of this theatre and the many others I have worked at but even after all these years the website is still not accepting any. remember to rewind it when you are done
Thanks Mike!
I rewound it!
I remember watching “Casino” here in the mid 90’s and was amazed at the curved screen and the 60’s style of the theatre. However, I seem to remember that the curved screen seemed to cause a focus issue around the sides of the screen.
It was a shame that it closed down and then eventually burned down.

Status should be demolished. This building was destroyed in a massive fire in 1999.
