This was a notorious gay adult theatre above the Hollywood Twin Cinema between W. 46th Street and W. 47th Street on 8th Avenue, located one block from Times Square.
It had video projection and closed in the late-1980’s.

This clipping from the 3/8/82 NY Post shows that this was actually a twin – at least by 1982.
This image shows the Post movie clock from 12/11/80 and one can find the Night Shift listed as what appears to be a single screen showing “3 XXX all male films” on a 24 hour grind.
Thanks for creating this page, David. I think I might have posted these already over on the Hollywood Twin page.
I used to frequent the Hollywood Twin when it was a revival house in the early ‘80’s. I know I had a number of the old colored-paper fliers that they used to print up with the upcoming month’s schedule. Lousy theater, but great programming!
I see that Love Camp 27 was playing at the Liberty. I think that was their favorite second feature, because it seemed to play there for years.
Ha, I hadn’t even noticed that in my own clipping saps! I caught that one once or twice on the back-end of some double feature at the Liberty! Nothing like a horribly dubbed Nazi prison-camp S&M flick with plenty of nudity and violence to satiate the entertainment needs of a healthy American 16 year-old such as myself back in the early ‘80’s! I have such great memories of the old Duece! Much as I probably would never find the time or have the inclination these days to suffer the faint smell of urine and other bodily fluids that eventually ruined the experience for me as I got older (and the theaters more decrepit), I really miss the old grime and honky-tonk of the area!
If the theater building is still around, it’s an Indian restaurant.

The Indian restaurant is in the former Night Shift space upstairs. There was a Burger King in there for several years. The Grey Line is in the space downstairs where the Hollywood Cinemas used to be. Here is a picture of the building from a couple of years ago when the Burger King was still upstairs:

Burger King invariably picks the worst locations in NYC; it’s a wonder they’re still in business here.
AlinNyc,you weren’t kidding about a Burger King, guess rent is so high it was a cheap spot to sell Burgers. Not that I would eat one there.LOL.
By coincidence, the downtown San Francisco Burger King was ALSO a gay porn theater! 🤣🤣🤣 The Powell Street Theatre has its own entry on CT. FYI.
