The Pier Theater was opened prior to 1926. By 1950 it had been renamed Madeline Theater. The first and last time that I was ever in the Madeline Theater was on August 9th, 1960, when the theater was showing “The Lost World”, starring Michael Rennie, Jill St. John and Claude Raines. The Madeline Theater was a full-sized movie theater built on pilings that extended out over the Atlantic Ocean.
During high tide, the movie patrons could easily hear the waves breaking against those pilings. As the dinosaurs crashed through the jungle on the screen, the waves crashed below and the floor shook under our seats.
The hurricane of March 1962 washed away the Madeline Theater and most of the boardwalk at that spot.

“In 1940, the Braca’s bought the Madelyn Theatre and fishing pier for a corporation of which Mr. Cini was a member. Gar Gibbson bought and selected films and managed both theatres. Rita Braca Tracey was cashier of the Madelyn Theatre and operated the Candy Box. The movie on the pier was rebuilt twice after the hurricanes of 1944 and 1956 the fishing pier was rebuilt three times. The storm of 62 destroyed all the beachfront property, including the bowling alley, Penny Lynn Shop, the Pier and Popcorn Store operated by Jack and Jeanette Braca Gibson.” extracted from http://www.bracacafe.com/history.htm
