The Birdson Drive-In parks 300 between the two screens.

The manager of this theater just announced on his Facebook page that a second screen is under construction and should be ready by the first of May 2011.

Yeah, it’s cooler here in the hills of East Tennessee. Those cotton fields get steamy. Though, that’s sort of the whole point of a drive in, isn’t it? Actually, back on topic, what’s the story behind a brand new drive in? There’re aren’t many people expecting to make a living on any single screen anything, let alone a drive in.

Those two are both in Middle Tennessee, as is the Valley Drive In in Waverly, which is even closer to Camden. West Tennessee means west of the Tennessee River. When I was growing up in West Tennessee there was at least one drive-in in virtually every county, but all had closed except for the Summer 4 in Memphis. Drive-ins survived much better in Middle and East Tennessee.

There is also the Broadway Drive-In, at 302 East Highway 70 Dickson Tn.Ph# 615-446-2786 showing 1 single movie and the Pink Cadilac Drive-In, on Highway 100 in Centerville Tn. Ph# 931-729-2386 showing double features. Hope this helps out!
