Previous Names: Mini One
The Mini One opened in October 1969, by Carroll’s Development Corporation. It was their prototype for a manager operated, fully automated theater. The booth ran 6000' reels with an automatic changeover, so no projectionist was necessary. The small lobby held the box office and small candy stand. The auditorium had a large screen, and the wide house’s seats were arranged in continental style.
The name was changed by the 1980’s to the Cinema East 2, because it was next door to the original Cinema East. In it’s last few years, the theater was used as an art house by Loews. It remained open for a short time after the Cinema East, next door, closed.
