One of the major cinemas of downtown Alexandria, the Metro Cinema opened in 1949 with Esther Williams in “Neptune’s Daughter”. Seating is provided for 936 Stalls and 592 Balcony. It was built for and initially operated by Loew’s M.G.M. and was equipped with air conditioning.
It is used as a venue for the International Film Festival, which is held every September.
