I saw Godzilla vs. Megalon at the State in 1976 when it was released in the US… It was playing mostly “B” movies, and I don’t think it lasted much longer.
This opened as Oregon State and renamed to State in 1974.

From the 1950s a photograph that captured along with the State Theatre some vintage cars and signs in Corvallis.
The metal channel letters reading STATE from the marquee are now included in the funky and eclectic interior decor of Corvallis' Avalon Cinema.
I used to go to this theatre when I was in High School in Albany, OR. The movies started out at $0.99 but then got “jacked” up to $1.50 around 1989/90… we used to bring candy from the grocery store and scrounge for money to see a movie. I remember seeing LA Story there with my best friend and laughing pretty hard. Anyway, it is pretty sad that it was demolished for a few parking spots… it wasn’t a magnificent building, but it was a cheap place to see a movie and have fun when I was a kid. Sad to hear that nothing like it exists for kids in that area now…
