General Cinema operated the theater until December 16, 1982.

General Cinema opened the Newington Cinema I & II on February 20, 1969 with “The Wrecking Crew” in Screen 1 and “Funny Girl” in Screen 2. A third screen was added on October 15, 1976 and Showcase Cinemas took over the theater in 1982. National Amusements last operated the theater who closed it on July 13, 1997.

Fred Buffum managed this theatre until he became the Division Manager in Philadelphia.

Three screens on October 15th, 1976. No grand opening ad placed in the newspaper.

I remember me and my friends sneaking in to see jaws in the early 70’s it was one of the scariest movies I have seen to date the original movie signpost is being used by the Lowes hardware store that is there now

I saw The Godfather there in 1972 long long lines. Even the turnoff from the Berlin Tnpk was a long line of cars trying to turn left!

Well, on March 24 1970 it was playing “A BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN” in theatre one and theatre two had “ANNE OF A THOUSAND DAYS”.

One of the only General Cinemas in CT. Had the shadowbox screen in the large auditorium.
