I worked there before and after opening night. I was one of the first employees. There was a great party for all the investors. Drank a lot of champagne that night even though I was under age…. Best first job a guy could ever have. Lots of babes…. Left there in 1983 management was falling apart.

Kinney & Stone of Austin were the chief architects and Harold Deteau of Longview was also listed as an architect. Carmike dropped the theatre at the end of a 25-year lease after shows on September 30, 2006.

This opened on November 20th, 1981. Martin had a dollar sale at its Cargill cinema the week before. Two grand opening ads in the photo section.

In the last years of it’s operation, Northloop Six operated as a dollar theater.

Presidio Theatres dominated the Austin area until the late 1987. Nice find, Lost Memory.

The Northloop was built by Presidio Theatres in 1980 or 81. It was 6 screens of various sizes. It was sold to Martin Theatres approximately 1984.
