This is one out of two drive-ins in Mooresville. The Mooresville-Davidson opened in 1948. It appears that the theater was still in operation after the Charlotte Observer stopped showing advertisements for the theater in 1974. Despite the Observer’s decisions, it appears that the theater continued to run until sometime around the mid-1980s.
A closer address (at least for Google) is 1723 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville, NC. The drive-in was located just to the south along the east side of the highway.

My May 25, 2011 post is incorrect. The movie theatre was in town. In the photo given is the flat roof building the former projection/concession building? If so, was it moved to the present day location?
Above address is incorrect. Approx. location for this drive-in was Mecklenburg Hwy south of Eastport Trail. Though barely visible, you can still make out the ramps. Use 1652 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville, NC to map.

Mark from Davidson: My grandparents' home is almost directly across Hwy 115 from this site. I remember this drive-in from my childhood, but for some reason they would never take us there!
Mark from Davidson: Suppose you are aware pf the theatre plans for Davidson though I wish it were going to be a single screen rather than 4 screen..more like a “restaurant that shows movies” type of venue. Did you know that Davidson had a movie theatre years ago where the old gas station used to stand?
It’s only a field now and probably destined to become part of residential development.
(1950s? – 1985). 1 screen that faced the road. Last feature: “Romancing the Stone”. You had to pick-up/plug-in/turn-in your speaker (this was good if you drove off and forgot to take the speaker off of your driver’s side window—-it would simply unplug itself from the stand). The grill only had a Grade B health rating but the burgers were great! (Carolina classic style) MEMORIES: My sister and I agravating my Dad by drawing finger-pictures in the back window condensation. Hitchcock’s “Psycho”, it was on it’s 4th or 5th run as the 2nd half of a double feature with Disney’s “That Darned Cat!” (little kids such as myself should have been asleep by then). I got scared and cried during the shower scene to which my Mom replied, “That’s not blood it’s only ketchup!” In my teen years a frequent late 2nd feature was :“Vanishing Point”(that naked blonde riding up on the chopper would never happen to me)
