Banquet hall in former auditorium

The Williston Theatre opened in 1931 and closed in 1952. The former Williston Theatre today houses the Irish American Center.

The theatre was in the building to the left past the intersecting street on the Google image. The zoom feature is of no help in this instance.

The entrance to the Irish-American Center is at the corner; presumably that was also the case when a theater. The roof line of the auditorium begins some distance from the corner. The auditorium runs parallel to Willis Avenue with stores and apartments fronting the street.

According to the Mineola Historical Society the years of operation were from 1931-1952.

Newsday Movie Timetable in 1944 lists the theater as Williston Park, rightly or wrongly.

If the Historical Society is correct the theater only lasted one year after the renovation touted in the ad in the photo section.
