El Cine

The El Cine is located in the trendy and very touristy El Hatillo, a small village founded in 1521, which is now located at the outer south-eastern limits of Caracas. I have no information on any history of the building, but it would have been possibly the only cinema operating in the area probably dating from the late-1940’s. I know it was still open as a cinema in 1963 and judging by the size of the building had a seating capacity of no more than 200.

In March 2007 it stood empty, unused and ‘For Sale’. By early-2024 it was the El Cine Restaurant. Close by is the new Centro Commercial (shopping centre) which contains a six-screen multiplex.
