Warrington Drive-In

The Warrington Drive-In opened on October 21, 1950, featuring a 1950 western “The Sundowners” with Robert Preston, Robert Sterling, Chill Wills and Cathy Downs. It had a parking ramp that could hold 500 cars. It was operated by Olivia and Charles Stuart. In 1952 it was advertised as a drive-in restaurant along with the theatre.

In 1955 operations were taken over by S.E. McDaniel. I believe that T.G. Solomon’s Gulf State Theatres was the operator at the end. The Warrington Drive-In was closed in June 1960.

I recall my father telling me that this drive-in closed as the result of being hit by a hurricane. An apartment complex now sits on the site. The Twin-Air Drive-In was across the street.
