- Jun 25, 2008 — The doors of Pearisburg theater open again
The Pearis Theatre was opened on December 20, 1939 by the Star Amusement Co. Inc. It was listed with 600 seats. It was closed as a movie theatre in March 1986.
The Pearis Theater was reopened in 2013 by Chris & Amy Buchanan who are taking donations to renovate the theatre. It was listed as ‘Temporary Closed’ in January 2026.

The Pearis Theater opened in 1939 and closed as a movie house in March 1986. It reopened a few years later as a concert/live/community center.
Actual opening date is December 20, 1939 by the Star Amusement Company. It was originally scheduled to open on December 14, 1939 but was moved to six days later.
