The Holyoke Twins were located in a shopping center on Route 5 across from another strip mall. One had to drive down a steep embankment. The shopping center could not be seen from the main road. Operated by Jerry Lewis Cinema when it opened on August 10, 1973 with Topol in “Fiddler on the Roof” & Gene Hackman in “The Poseiden Adventure”. Each auditorium contained 234-seats.
I recall a discount department store located there also. The theatres didn’t survive more than a few years, closing around 1980-1981. It became a furniture store. The complex eventually served several functions including a factory.
A similar twin existed in Hadley.

Built early to mid 1970s I believe. The cinemas didn’t last very long, were for some time was part of the Jerry Lewis chain. They closed around 1980-1981 and were demolished shortly thereafter. The Hadley twin, “Campus Cinemas” was later expanded to a triplex, closed in 1976 and demolished 1983.
The Holyoke Plaza Cinema opened its doors on August 10, 1973 with “Fiddler On The Roof” at Screen 1 and “The Poseidon Adventure” at Screen 2. The twin-screener was operated by C.F. Theaters of Braintree and housed 468 seats in total (234 seats in each auditorium). It was closed in March 1977.
