Google shows this is the site of the “Palm Springs Flea Market & Food Fest” which somehow doesn’t surprise me. Many Drive-Ins doubled as flea markets during the day.

Grand opening ad posted.
As far as I know, this drive-in is the only one with the location and approximate date that matches this wire service story, which ran in the Vinita (OK) Daily Journal on Oct. 12, 1963: “PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (UPI) – Movies have become so long that a new drive-in theater here has had to install watering troughs and buckets of oats. The oats and water are placed near hitching posts provided by the drive-in for equestrian movie goers.”
Final night of operation was either November 28 or November 30 with “Everybody’s All-American” and “Above The Law”. The November 28 edition of The Desert Sun shows these features in both the movie listings provided by the theaters and the grid for the MTC (Metropolitan)-operated theaters. The editions from the following two days still show the features in the movie listings, but the MTC grid shows CLOSED under the drive-in block.
The Grand Opening was April 28,1964
Today, the property appears to be a large parking lot. There are a few small structures there which may indicate the remains of retail businesses. Otherwise, it’s just a parking lot.
The address for this Drive-in is 67601 Ramon Rd, Palm Springs, CA 92264. It is also listed as Cathedral City.
Opened 1969, closed 1985. Adult films played 1972-1974.
Please update.
There’s an empty lot with a diagonal angle to one of its corners, so that could still be the drive-in, just sleeping.
