The Globe Theatre was situated in the Wanchai district of the Hong Kong Island. It opened to business on 24th December 1950, and showed first run Cantonese language and selected English language films in the 1950’s and 1960’s. In the mid-1960’s, I watched many Cantonese language films at the theatre with my late father.
From 20th June 1970 until its closure on 1st June 1971, it served as a venue for Mandarin vaudeville shows. A residential building was built on the site
of the theatre.
