The Coeburn Theater was opened May 1, 1947. I only went into this theater long after it closed. I think that it had it’s last run in the 1970’s. I remember it for it’s orange and white vertical sign that had “Coeburn” on it. If I recall correctly the neon on the sign has been restored and is active. It’s now the home to the Coeburn High School Alumni Association and it is used as a bingo hall. If anyone has any old pictures of the theater in its heyday, I would enjoy seeing them.

My Dad was the manager of the Coeburn Theater for about 30 years. I was the last projectionist when it closed in 1970. Here is a news paper clip of the Grand Opening in 1947.
This is a painting of Coeburn Theatre commissioned by James Salyer and painted by R.J. Rose.
