The theater opened on May 19, 1949.
The theater was owned and operated by Badger Outdoor Theaters of Minneapolis.
The capacity was 450 cars.
The theater entrance was on Highway 51 (now Business 51) and the exit was on Tommys Turnpike (Theatre Drive). It was still open in 1992, but had closed and was demolished by the mid to late-1990’s.

The 51 Outdoor Theater is where I thought it was. The entrance and exit road of the theater is called Theater Dr. (The road is still there behind the bar.) The exit went out to Tommys Turnpike.

There is presently an empty grocery store on the site.
About half of the ramps from the theater are still there. I saw them on a recent aerial view of the property from map quest.
The drive-in was operating in 1977, the drive-in closed for the season on November 13, 1977. The last movies for that season were “Maniac†and “Cannonballâ€.

It’s a master thesis… The Grand Opera House of Stevens Point, 1894-1994 / by Russell F. Haines. It’s located in the UWSP library reference room, Call Number: F589.S76 H25 1995. There is a book and VHS.
