I’m guessing it opened in 1988, because that’s supposedly when Seacourt Pavilion opened.
1989 would be the correct date. I know this because the projectionist local I belong to picketed this place for almost 2 years. Hot summer days, cold winter nights, we were there. We even rented an airplane to fly a banner over the beaches during the summer telling people not to patronize this place. We never did get in, but we gave it a valiant effort. For my local, this was the beginning of the end for projectionists.
May I ask you Justin? Digital may be great, but what is wrong with film? The way they have always made movies.Shot on film shown on film.
tisloews, you have to forgive Justin. He thinks everything Digital and Imax-lite is the greatest thing since sliced bread. He wasn’t around as a kid watching his father work in a true movie palace, doing real showmanship, something that ALL of todays theatres lack. But I will give him credit, he goes to the movies every week, so thats saying something.
He’s forgiven,Yes I can tell by his posts that he is into it.I guess it is easier to carry a DVD than I can full of film reels.
This opened on May 25th, 1990. Its grand opening ad is in the photo section. Ad claims that the Dolby stereo is enhanced by 30 speakers to give concert quality sound.
Man, this place is in a sorry state. Resembles a second-run discount theater. Checked out auditorium 4, one of their larger houses and the projection was sooo bad. Incredibly dark and color was way off. Theater totally went down the tubes.
