I remember seeing Men in Black II at this theater when it was open back in late 2002 when I was younger and it was a nice experience. Good times.
I wonder if someone has pictures of this place when it was still in operation.
Carmike took it over after Cineplex, but it only lasted a short time. Next up was EFW, a bit of a sketchy operator, who I was told was thrown out due to non-payment of rent. The landlord then ran it briefly with the old EFW staff to help them recoup their pay that EFW never made. That arrangement didn’t last long and it was closed up for good to the best of my knowledge. It wasn’t a bad theater for its time, it was always just in third place behind AMC and Storey/Regal and had the least desirable location.
It was probably being run by someone else by then, though.
This theater is claimed to have been closed in 2000, which doesn’t make sense because I remember it still being open prior to 2005.
and closed by Carmike in 2000
This was opened by Cineplex Odeon on August 12th, 1988. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
Here a couple of aerial view.

I saw “Blackhawk Down” there. I believe it had started the dollar circulation by then. The building reminded me of 70’s cheese, and I couldn’t get enough of it. Glad I got to experience it…
Interesting to hear it was a cousin, to the Friday’s Plaza theatre.
