This theatre’s opening movies include Enemy at the Gates, Heartbreakers in THX, Brothers, Pollock, Chocolat, Recess: School’s Out, Snatch, The Mexican, Traffic, 15 Minutes, Cast Away, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Exit Wounds, Hannibal, Say it Isn’t So, See Spot Run, Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man and T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous in IMAX 3D, and Mysteries of Egypt in regular IMAX.
Out of all Scotiabank Theatres, this is the only one named after the mall it’s located in. There are Scotiabank Theatres in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, St. John’s, and Chinook. I predict that sometime soon, this will be renamed Scotiabank Theatre Calgary.
This opened on March 23rd, 2001 as Famous Player’s last Prairie cinema. Grand opening ad:

For the first few years, every 10 minutes or so there would be a flashy and loud music and light show centred on the Sphinx.

This is our theatre and we love it,you can see from any seat and its nice and clean with very friendly helpfull staff.The Egyptian theme is amazing although Im used to it now after so many visits,friends visiting from elsewhwere are always enthralled by it.
