Located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn on 7th Avenue on the northeast corner of 14th Street. It opened in 1912 as the Palace Theatre and had a seating capacity given in 1926 and 1927 as 450. By 1930 it had been re-named Armory Theatre (after the nearby Park Slope Armory building which is located close-by) and the seating capacity was given as 428.
By 1941 it had been re-named the Minerva Theatre and had a seating capacity of 398, but it was listed as closed in that year, but reopened and was finally closed in late-1950.
The building then went over to retail use, then I believe was a latterly a restaurant. In around 2003 it was gutted and converted into apartments, with a new apartment building added on top on the theatre.

You guys are GREAT ! You finally found the Minerva ! This is fascinating ! I live on 22nd Street, but used to live on Seventh between 20th & 21st. If it closed in ‘40, I never saw it open, as I was born in '43. Everytime I pass by I look at it and, seeing how the neighborhood has become so hot recently, I think: imagine how well a cozy little neighborhood theater would do now !
