Located as part of the Wonderland Mall. The Wonder Theatre opened November 23, 1966. It was built by the Interstate Theatre Inc. circuit. It was a very elegant theatre. It had Griggs self riser seats, and a beautiful gold “waterfall” curtain in front of the huge screen. It was equipped with Norelco AA II 35/70mm projectors. They were the successor to the Todd A-O projectors.
The Wonder Theatre was my favorite theatre to take a date to. In 1976 the Wonder Theatre’s auditorium was split into two. It was the worst splitting job I have ever seen. They didn’t even reposition the seats, and some actually were facing away from the cheesy little screens.
The screens were outfitted with traveller curtains, but they had black masking boards on either end, and when the curtain was closed, there was a big black gap that made the theatre look even cheaper! Thankfully the Wonder Theatre closed, was razed, and a more modern six-plex was built inside the mall.

I saw “Star Wars” here in 1977.
When I was stationed at Lackland, I visited this place to see “Murders' Row” on December 26, 1966. The theatre was barely a month old.
