Built in 1920 as the Victory Hall, a showplace for legitimate theater, vaudeville, and other live performances. It was designed by local architect D. Wiley Anderson and was named to commemorate the end of WWI. Movies were soon added to the entertainment mix, but the venue, later renamed the Victory Theatre, continued to feature live performances, until its closure by the early-1960’s.
At that time, the building was converted into the Scottsville Municipal Building, housing government offices and meeting space. Today, the restored Victory Theatre building is home to live music, movies and other live entertainment, bringing back the theater to its original use.

This part of Virginia is a hidden treasure.Off the beaten track with really unique little towns and the magnificent James River.Y'all come.There’s even a few ghost towns.
GREAT CONTRIBUTION,Mr.memory,the magic man.The other parts of the site show the isolated treasure in some detail.The tubing ans boating just upriver are a summer fav.The cable ferry across the James there is the last of its kind in the region,I’m told.Look at the old homes section.The flood section is a hint of the capricious nature of the river.Having helped clean up with a church group after the ‘69 flood in another river town,I feel their pain.
