The Prairie Cinemas opened in around 1980 with three screens. It was converted into five screens in the 1990’s.
The seats and projection equipment were removed from the theatre when it was closed in 1997.
In December 2009, a lease was taken out on the building, and converted the 13,000 square feet building space into a retail sporting goods store, with indoor baseball and softball batting cages and training facilities, known as ‘The Bat Cave’.

Really, not a bad looking 5 screen theatre.Did a monster 20 plex open up down the road, seems like it could still be in use showing movies and not hitting baseballs!Sometimes it might have been staying with three screens.
Oh,thanks for the pictures,Trolleyguy.
I’ve just added some new pictures to the Photos section. My previous ones were lost when Webshots shut down.
First operated by Standard Theatres of Milwaukee, later operated by Essaness Theaters, then Excellence Theatres, and finally Carmike.
