The Dexter Theatre was opened December 10, 1933 with Mary Carlisle in “The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. It was temporarily closed in 1936 and vacant in 1937. It may have been a victim of the Depression, although film attendance rose as a whole during that time, as I recall.
