Opened with Mickey Rooney in “The Devil Is A S**sy” along with a few unnamed comedies. The older Pal Theatre closed two days before the newer theater’s opening.

The first Pal Theatre will have its own CT page soon. Thanks Dallas! This should be named “Pal Theatre (2)”.

This was the New Pal Theatre #2 opening December 15, 1936. Pal Theatres of Vidalia announced the project in September of 1936 and built this venue opening in mid-December.

This first opened as the Shadowland Theatre and operated as early as 1920. It was renamed the Pal Theatre on July 29, 1935 after it was sold to Mitchell F. Brice of Vidalia. It received a big remodel on February 7, 1956.

My cousin Pete Lockhart was manager at Louisville, Wadley and the Rebel drive in in Millen. We had several great trips to St. Simons staying at the Brice cottage for a week each time.

In the early sixties, there was a string of Pal Theaters in Georgia, run by the Pal Amusement company, Pete Brice and Margaret Ladson, owners. Pal Theaters were in Glenville, Hinesville, Louisville, Lyons, Millen, Mt. Vernon, Soperton and Vidalia.
