The Kmart next door operated from March 6, 1980, until December 15, 2019, which narrowly missed what would’ve been its 40th anniversary.

I lived in Lebanon from late 2003-07. If i remember, Martin III (triple) was operated by Carmike, but I use the term “operate” very loosely. It was as if Carmike had already jumped ship and was watching the place sink into the ocean with the lights still turned on. I saw only a few movies at this triplex and being utterly flabbergasted at the general state of disrepair and neglect it was in when it shuttered around the time the Roxy 10 opened across town. Broken seats, exposed masonry, missing ceiling tiles, broken tilework in the men’s bathroom. It had three screens, but usually ran 5-6 movies regularly. At the time pricing was economical, compared to cinemas further away in Nashville. After its shuttering in mid 2004, the building sat empty for a while before it was completely demolished, foundation and all. A Dollar General Market (sort of a Dollar General version of a supercenter) and some adjacent smaller stores were constructed in its place. The long-standing K-Mart next door would survive (not thrive) several years more before it too was shuttered as part of K-Mart’s death-march. K-Mart’s space was redeveloped and subdivided into multiple occupants. I can honestly say, The Martin III theater’s demise was apparent long before it happened

I was manager here from 1992-1994. It was a great time for everyone, and I’ll never forget the sold-out crowds to – of all things – The Beverly Hillbillies!

We had a great staff, and a lot of good times. I’m sorry to see it close, but it was pretty run-down even then. Of course, there wasn’t a lot I could do about it. Gotta love Carmike.

This space has been converted to retail use – a Dollar General I believe. Ironic, since when I was kid, the old Princess was the Dollar General store.

This was among the last of the Martin stand-alone cinemas built before Carmike bought out the circuit. This rather non descript venue brought about the demise of the Capitol in downtown Lebanon when it opened in 1980. Martin allegedly had a non-compete clause attached to the lease of the Capitol that has keep it shuttered for the past 26 years. The Roxy, a 20-screen cinema opened in the area in 2004 and drained the life out of the old triplex. Maybe some attention can now be focused on restoring and reopening the Capitol.
