Cullman Theatre

The Cullman Theatre opened on February 8, 1938 with seating for 900 on two floors. The opening attraction was Robert Young in “Navy Blue and Gold”. The Cullman Theatre was built and operated by Cullman Amusements at a cost of $40,000.

The Cullman Theatre closed in 1955 and was destroyed by fire on December 8, 1962 along with several other buildings on each side of the theatre.

In 1948 the Cullman was operated by Acme Theaters out of Birmingham. Owner of the chain was Frank Merritt. Acme also ran the Lyric in Cullman.
