The Forest Park was one of the Georgia Theatre Company’s original properties. The theatre opened sometime in the early 1950’s and closed around the mid-1970’s. It had been demolished by early 2023.

My father told me that the picture in the following link was the Forrest Park Theater.

I have seen many restaurants, businesses and clubs including a Cheers bar when the television series was going on.
The address did not match what Jack Coursey has. Instead the street address was 770 Main Street. You can tell from the picture that the building may have been a theater. Even in the past there were lights on the front that looked like theater lights.
Presently the building appears to be in the process of renovation. I walked up and looked at the front door. Repairs are approved for various parts of the building. I have no idea what will be there but the floor has long since been leveled.
I did mention previously that there was a theater in the shopping center that replaced the Forrest Park Drive-in (or 54 Drive-in) that was a store front theater and not a separate building. The storefront theater probably held only 100 people but the above building would have held many more.
According to the 1963 City Directory the address is listed as 1130 Main Street. Were there two?
Like I said, the picture I posted is what my father said was the Forest Park Theater. You list 1130 Main Street and my building is 770 Main Street. Street Numbers may have changed because that section of Forest Park has had quite a bit or demolition and renovation.
The Address listed in CT matches the Forest Park (54) Drive-in and is Jonesboro Road which is not Main Street.
I did post a theater in the shopping center where the old Drive-in was that was opened for about 2 months in the late 1970s. That theater looked like it only held 100 people. It was not built as a theater, did not have a sloping floor like movie theaters do, and if memory serves me correctly did not have a lobby. You walked in and paid your admission then went to your seat. This theater was also called the Forest Park Theater.
I never attended this building when it was a theater but remember it being various bars over time.
I was riding on Forest Parkway and did not see the theater building. It may have been demolished.
This theater has been demolished.
