Michigan Theatre

The Michigan Theatre was opened in 1930, replacing the Strand Theater which opened much earlier. It continued until at least 1950. Today it operates as a church. The church closed and the theater sat empty and rotting. A local couple walking by one evening decided to inquire about the theater, and they bought it for $65,000. They’re embarking on a renovation/restoration of the space for use as a live music and movie venue.

I called this number, 906-786-7941, that was listed on the internet for the Michigan theater. The answering machine belonged to the church, which has moved to another address. As of now the function is unknown, but according to LM’s photo a theater may be on the way.
