Milford Opera House

Opened in 1896 as a venue for minstrel shows. Later showed kinetoscopes (moving pictures), then was a VFW hall, a boy scout hall and a movie theater. There is a photo on page 46 of “75th Anniversary of Milford Boro”.

There is a Rivoli theatre listed in the 1944 Film Daily Yearbook for Miford with 400 seats and closed. Since this is another very small town, could possibly be the same theatre.

The building is one block off of the main street in a residential area and appears to be a private home. The Milford Opera House etching and 1896 date can be clearly seen above the door.

Any additional information on this theatre would be greatly appreciated.
